Muharram Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri: Special Sisters Events

Muharram Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri | Sisters Events Banbury

As we welcome the blessed Islamic New Year of 1448 Hijri, Banbury Madni Masjid, in partnership with Banbury Makkah Masjid and the Umar Education & Welfare Centre, is honored to announce a special series of gatherings exclusively for the women of our community.

As beautifully highlighted in our official flyer,, these dedicated "Sisters Events" are designed to provide a spiritually enriching environment where we can come together in remembrance, reflection, and sisterhood during this sacred month.

The Profound Significance of Muharram

Muharram is far more than just the start of the Islamic calendar; it is a deeply special and sacred month. It is a time when Muslims around the world pause to remember the poignant story of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) family, focusing especially on the noble sacrifices of Imam Hussain.

During these gatherings, we will delve into what happened in Karbala. The events of Karbala are not merely historical accounts; they form a profound story that teaches us timeless and essential values about truth, kindness, immense courage, and the unwavering importance of standing up for what is right, regardless of the adversity faced. By reflecting on these lessons, we aim to inspire one another to embody these noble characteristics in our daily lives, within our families, and across our wider community.

Dedicated Spaces for Sisterhood and Spiritual Growth

We recognize the vital role women play as the heart of the family and the community. Providing dedicated, safe, and welcoming spaces for sisters to gather, learn, and reflect is incredibly important to us. These three distinct events offer an opportunity to step away from the daily routine, connect with fellow Muslim women, and draw collective strength from the rich legacy of the Ahlul Bayt.

Whether you are seeking spiritual rejuvenation, a deeper understanding of Islamic history, or simply the comforting presence of your community, these gatherings are warmly open to you.
