Creative Learning Through Art and Crafts

Arts and crafts provide children with an opportunity to learn beyond traditional classroom activities. Through drawing, designing, making and other creative exercises, children can develop their imagination while learning how to turn ideas into something tangible.

These workshops are intended to encourage children to:

  • ✨ Explore their creativity and imagination
  • 🎨 Develop practical artistic skills
  • 🖌️ Experiment with different ideas and techniques
  • 🧠 Improve concentration and patience
  • 💪 Build confidence through creative expression
  • 🤝 Enjoy positive activities with other children
  • 🌟 Discover new interests and talents

The involvement of an external artist adds an additional creative dimension to the programme, allowing children to benefit from specialist artistic guidance in a relaxed and community-focused setting.

A Fun and Supportive Environment for Children

The workshops are being held at the Umar Education and Welfare Centre, providing children with a welcoming community environment where they can learn, create and interact with others.

Banbury Madni Masjid regularly provides educational and community activities for children and families. Parents can also explore the mosque's Events & Courses page to discover other upcoming educational, recreational and community programmes.

For families interested in structured Islamic education, the As'Sunnah Academy offers courses covering areas including Qur'anic studies, Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah and Arabic. This can provide a useful complement to children's wider educational and creative development. Parents looking to enrol their children in Islamic education can also visit the As'Sunnah Academy Enrolment page for information about the available learning opportunities.

Connecting Creativity with Community

Creative activities can play an important role in children's development. They allow young people to express themselves, work independently and learn how to approach challenges in different ways.

At Banbury Madni Masjid and Umar Education & Welfare Centre, activities such as these form part of a wider commitment to creating opportunities for children and young people within the local community.

The centre has also hosted other creative activities for children, including Art Day for Children, which combines creative expression with themes from the Islamic calendar. The programme gives children opportunities to explore painting, drawing, crafts and Islamic-themed creative projects.

Who Are the Workshops For?

The programme is specifically advertised for children aged 8 years and upwards.

Whether a child already enjoys art or simply wants to try something different, the workshops provide an opportunity to participate in creative activities in a friendly environment. No previous artistic experience is necessary. The focus is on participation, creativity, learning and enjoyment.

Free Arts and Crafts Activities for Children in Banbury

One of the key benefits of this programme is that the workshops are free to attend, making creative activities more accessible to local children and families.

Parents and guardians looking for meaningful activities during the autumn term can consider this 10-week programme as an opportunity for their children to spend time developing practical and creative skills while participating in a positive community activity.

With an external artist leading the sessions and regular Thursday afternoon workshops, the programme offers children a chance to discover new creative interests and make the most of their time in a supportive environment.
