Aqiqah is a special act in Islam where animals like goats or sheep are sacrificed to celebrate the birth of a child. It is a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and shows our thankfulness to Allah for blessing us with a newborn baby.
This sacrifice is usually done on the seventh day after the baby is born, but if it’s done later, that’s completely fine too.
The meat from the Aqiqah is shared in 3 parts, one goes to the family, one for neighbors & one for those in need. It's a beautiful tradition that spreads joy beyond your home, including the less fortunate in your celebration.
At Banbury Madni Masjid, we encourage families to follow this Sunnah with sincerity and gratitude. Aqiqah isn't just a sacrifice, it's a way of thanking Allah (SWT) and sharing your happiness with families and to those in need.
