The Finality of Prophethood – A Reminder for Jumʼah
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim
الصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ عليكَ يا سَيِّدي يا رَسُولَ الله ﷺ
“(The Beloved Prophet) Muhammad is not the father of any man amongst you. Yes, he is the Messenger of Allah and the final amongst all the Prophets.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:40)
This verse is a naṣṣ qaṭꜤī (definitive text), leaving no room for doubt. It establishes the foundational belief that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the last and final prophet (Khatam an-Nabiyyīn).
The finality of prophethood is not simply a theological discussion; it is a core principle of Islamic faith. Believing in Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the last prophet is essential to being a Muslim.
An individual leaves the fold of Islam if:
This clear stance safeguards the purity of Islam and preserves the seal of prophethood.
As we reflect on this blessed day of Jum’ah, let us renew our conviction in the finality of prophethood.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ completed the message of Islam and left us with a perfect way of life until the Day of Judgement.
Let this belief strengthen our hearts, purify our faith, and guide us to live as true followers of the last and final messenger.
