Ladies’ Art Class at Umar Community Centre
The Umar Community Centre has always aimed to create meaningful spaces where people can come together, learn, and grow. This week, we took an exciting new step as we launched our very first Ladies’ Art Class, and it truly was a wonderful beginning. The session brought together women from our community in a warm, welcoming, and creative environment. It marked the start of something special an activity that we hope will continue to inspire and empower women in Banbury for years to come.
From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere inside the Umar Community Centre was filled with positivity. The new space provides a calm setting that naturally encourages creativity. With large windows allowing natural light to flow in, the room felt bright, open, and peaceful, perfect for an art class.
The session began with introductions and light conversations, helping everyone feel comfortable and part of the group. The women attending were excited to try something new, explore their artistic side, and take a break from the daily routine. The warm welcome from the organisers helped set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. It was clear from the very beginning that this class would be more than just an art session—it would be a space for connection, expression, and growth.
The main purpose of the class was to give women an opportunity to explore art in a simple, accessible, and enjoyable way. Many participants mentioned that they had not taken part in an art activity for a long time, while others were trying art for the very first time. Yet, every woman came with enthusiasm and an open mind.
During the session, participants explored different materials and techniques. Some focused on sketching, others experimented with colour, and a few took their time to work on detailed designs. The environment encouraged everyone to go at their own pace, with no pressure and no expectations just the freedom to create.
What made the session even more enjoyable was the interaction between the participants. Women shared their ideas, exchanged tips, and encouraged one another throughout the activity. Laughter, conversation, and creativity filled the room. It was clear that art was not just a hobby—it was a way for these women to express themselves and enjoy a moment of peace.
One of the most beautiful parts of the session was seeing how quickly the group connected. In today’s busy world, many women look for opportunities to meet new people, talk openly, and build friendships. The Ladies’ Art Class provided exactly that—an environment where women could feel heard, supported, and understood.
For Banbury Madni Masjid and the Umar Community Centre, this class is more than just an activity. It is part of a wider effort to strengthen our community by offering meaningful and beneficial programs. We believe that when women have access to safe, uplifting spaces, the entire community benefits. This art class is a simple yet powerful way to bring people together, encourage creativity, and promote emotional wellbeing.
The class also reflects our ongoing goal of offering services and activities that meet the real needs of our community. Whether it is through education, spiritual guidance, social events, or creative opportunities, the Umar Community Centre is committed to supporting people in ways that enrich their lives.
As the first class came to an end, the feedback from the participants was incredibly positive. Many expressed how much they enjoyed the experience and how refreshing it felt to take part in something creative and relaxing. The organisers were encouraged by the strong response, and plans are now underway to continue offering the Ladies’ Art Class on a regular basis.
The first session has set a strong foundation for future classes. Each gathering will continue to provide space for creativity, relaxation, and community connection. Over time, we hope these sessions will inspire even more women to join us and explore their talents in a supportive and comfortable environment.
This beginning is only the first step. With continued participation and support, we hope to introduce new art activities, explore different creative themes, and possibly showcase the artwork created by our ladies in community events.
We warmly invite all ladies from the Banbury community to join us for future art classes at the Umar Community Centre. No previous art experience is needed. Whether you are a beginner, a hobby artist, or simply someone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable activity, this class is open to you.
To stay updated about the next sessions, please follow the announcements on our website, social media pages, and the noticeboard at Banbury Madni Masjid. We encourage you to bring a friend, family member, or neighbour with you—everyone is welcome.
By joining us, you are not only taking part in a creative activity but also supporting a community-driven initiative that brings people closer together.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported our first Ladies Art Class. Your presence made the session meaningful and memorable.
