Sha'ban

About the Month of Sha’ban

Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is known as the month that prepares believers for Ramadan. It was the month in which the Qiblah (direction of prayer) was changed from Masjid Al-Aqsa to the Ka’bah in Makkah, a significant event that strengthened the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Sha’ban was also especially beloved to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who used to fast more in this month than in any other month besides Ramadan.

Key Points:

Sha’ban encourages us to prepare our hearts and habits for Ramadan.
It reminds us of the change of Qiblah and the unity and obedience it brought to the early Muslims.
Fasting and extra worship in Sha’ban were greatly encouraged by the Prophet ﷺ.

A Positive Message for This Blessed Month

  • Sha’ban is a chance to renew our intentions, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah before Ramadan arrives. It is a time to increase fasting, charity, and good deeds so we can enter Ramadan with pure hearts and strong faith.

Advice for Muslims
